ATTENTION PARENTS AND STUDENTS
IMPORTANT ALERT REGARDING SCHEDULE CHANGE REQUESTS
Each year student scheduling place significant limitations on out counselors' ability to make schedule changes. The opening of the school year typically yields multiple schedule change requests from over 600 students. Because very few courses have available space, changes must be kept to a minimum.
All requests for a possible schedule change must be emailed by a parent to the student's counselor. All emails must include a reason for change and a phone number for parent verification. Written requests will be accepted along with signature and parent phone number, if you do not have email access. Requests will be considered in order that they are received and cannot guarantee that your requests can be honored. The counselor's email addresses are listed at the bottom of this letter. Be certain to indicate the reason for the request since it will be a major consideration. Please understand that a high priority requests mat still not be possible. Changes that will be given priority are:
Placement level within an academic discipline
Necessary graduation requirements
Pervious failure
Completion of a course in summer school/night school
Please keep in mind that this scheduling process will be on going begining January 2008. Students have not only had several months to put their schedule together but have also met individually with their counselor and have had ample time to choose their classes, review their graduation requirements, look at their college and career considerations as well as their desired electives. The schedule they received in August and January is one that they have chosen which may include their alternative preferences. Therefore, schedule changes can only be considered for extenuating circumstances.
Requests that involve teacher reference, period or semester choice, changes in plans, a different lunch, or a different elective can not be considered due to class size and enrollment issues.
